Unprimed Linen
The painter’s support of choice has always been linen. The yarn is made from the long fibres of the flax plant grown and spun in Belgium. Our linens are of the highest quality, woven either in the UK or Belgium, and include many that are unique to Russell & Chapple.
Linen provides one of the best painting surfaces available. Far superior to cotton in terms of the strength and durability, linen has a beautiful natural texture which sets it apart from the mechanical weave of other fabrics.
All our painting linens are 'loom-state', meaning they are not washed or treated in any way after weaving. The linen will shrink over the stretcher frame when sized, giving the perfect flat and tense painting surface,
