USE
Stage Dye is mixed with methylated spirits to create a liquid dye. This is used for dying gauzes, drapes and curtains. As well as being a useful product for taking down props and costumes, and they are also suitable for colouring wood and paper. The spirit soluble stage dyes will colour shellac-based and polyurethane varnishes. Stage dye is not colourfast and is not recommended for fabrics that are handled extensively. They are not suitable for dying wax.
SPIRIT SOLUBLE
Mix 25 g of dye to a smooth paste with methylated spirit and thin out to 2 litres. 6 g of acetic acid to 25 g of dye will fix colour on wool. Double the quantity for black water based and spirit based dyes 50 g:2 Litre.
WATER SOLUBLE
Pour 2 litres of boiling water onto 25 g of dye and stir.
